What's a Selfish Knitter to Do?

I consider myself a relatively selfish knitter. I don't knit much for other people, mostly for myself. I have learned over the years to only make things for people that appreciate them. Therefore I do not knit a lot of gifts for Christmas. So it strikes me as rather funny that I find myself with a list of things to knit for other people. It started with my niece's daughters at Thanksgiving. Whenever they see me knitting, they are very interested. They asked if I would knit them socks, to which I replied, "How about mittens?" I figured mittens would take less time. I have one of two pairs of mittens knitted and felted, but I want to add a ribbed cuff so it fits better and keeps the snow out. Then I had the bright idea to knit a pair of fingerless mitts for the woman that sits in the car next to mine while I am waiting to pick my son up from school. She often does crossword puzzles and suduko and I figured she was as cold as I was. I was almost finished with them when I got my hair cut on Monday and showed them to my hairdresser. I am now making a pair for her. And a friend asked if I would make a chemo cap for a friend of hers that is dealing with breast cancer. So here I am, selfish knitter that I am, knitting for others.
